Gnocchi alla Romana

This easy to make dish is the ultimate comfort food. It makes a perfect accompaniment in place of potato or rice but could be used as a main dish with a salad on the side. You might want to double the recipe once you have tried it !!

Do start this ahead of time - it requires several hours in a fridge to solidify into logs - you can even do this part the day before. 


40 gm butter

500ml milk

125gm semolina (I used fine ground but you can use coarse too)

60gm finely grated parmesan

1 egg yolk

30 gm ( or a little more) grated tasty cheddar cheese 

salt and pepper
